Kenya’s senior-school stage builds on junior school. The first CBE Grade 10 cohort entered senior school in 2026. Learners choose pathways and subject combinations through the Ministry of Education process.

Assessment and the transition
CBE uses school-based projects, practical work, and written assessments. Grade 10 school-based assessments are distinct from KCSE, which continues for the remaining 8-4-4 secondary cohorts.
